Buenos Aires | The demographic crisis, policies to boost birth rates, family-strengthening measures and comprehensive child protection will be among the topics bringing together political leaders, officeholders and experts from several countries at the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires on July 23.

The Political Forum “Freedom for the Future: A Political Agenda for Birth Rates and Child Protection” is organized by Political Network for Values (PNfV), in partnership with Fundación Faro, Argéntea, Mises Cono Sur, the Global Center for Human Rights and Fundación Free.

“More than a space for reflection, we see this gathering as a forum for coordination and cooperation among those responsible for designing and implementing public policy,” says national deputy Santiago Santurio, PNfV’s Argentine member on its Advisory Board.

“Building a freer, more hopeful future starts with political decisions that protect children and strengthen families,” says Clara Muzzio, Deputy Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires and host of the event.

“Political Network for Values brings together lawmakers, officeholders and political leaders who take part in a personal capacity and share a common vision of human dignity, the family and fundamental freedoms. It’s values that unite us,” says Lola Velarde, the Network’s executive director.

Speakers will include, in addition to Muzzio and Santurio, Gabriel Mraida, Buenos Aires City’s Minister of Human Development and Habitat; national senator Carmen Álvarez Rivero; national deputy Joaquín Ojeda; provincial deputy Nahuel Sotelo; and Buenos Aires City legislator Andrea Freguia.

The forum will also feature experiences from local governments, presented by mayors Ramón Lanús (San Isidro), Rodrigo Aybar (Tres de Febrero) and Fernando Rambaldi (La Calera, Córdoba).

Expert perspectives will come from Laura Bryant Handford, an analyst at The Heritage Foundation (United States); Carmen Soza, executive director of Ideas Republicanas (Chile); Úrsula Basset, director of the Center for Family Law Research (Argentina); and Vajk Farkas, director of the Madrid office of the Center for Fundamental Rights (Hungary).

Former Argentine Vice President Gabriela Michetti and 65 young leaders from 15 countries, taking part in PNfV’ Youth Program, will close out the forum.

Political Network for Values is an international platform bringing together officeholders and political and civic leaders from 45 countries across the Americas, Europe and Africa, dedicated to promoting a culture of life, strengthening the family and defending fundamental freedoms. The network is cross-partisan, and its members take part in a personal capacity, united by a shared set of values.
