José Antonio Kast received the highest decoration of the city of Lima from its mayor, Rafael López Aliaga, in recognition of his work as president of Political Network for Values (PNfV) in favor of life, family and liberties.
The ceremony took place on October 4 at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital. The Lima Medal is awarded by the metropolis to people with outstanding social or humanitarian activity.
Present were the councilors of the municipality Fabiola Morales Castillo, Deborah Carmen Inga Zapata, Giuliana Calambrogio Correa de Balmaceda, and Leo Miguel De Paz Lancho, among other politicians, businessmen and leaders of the city.
“Today is a day of great joy […] it is an honor for me to welcome José Antonio Kast. […] In the defense of fundamental values you have been heroic and very risky, […] you are a brave man. You may feel fear at some point, but you overcome it; that strength you show is one of the many reasons why you are awarded the Medal of the City of Lima,” said Mayor Rafael López Aliaga in his speech.
In his speech, Kast acknowledged that governing a city like Lima, one of the largest in the world and one of the oldest in the continent, is not an easy challenge, and addressing López Aliaga he said: from the PNfV “we recognize in you a leader that cares about essential things and fundamental values, your trajectory inspires many of us, receive our thanks for what you are doing for this city”.
It is possible to govern with principles and values
In his speech of gratitude José Antonio Kast emphasized that it is possible to direct the destiny of a city with attachment to principles and fundamental values, working so that material and spiritual development reaches all people and that it is expressed in freedom.
“I speak of a freedom that many times some political groups want to take away from us: freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, freedom of parents to educate their children, political freedom and also the freedom to be born, the freedom to develop freely in the family, that family that is the fundamental nucleus of society”, he detailed.
“We represent groups of people who for years were in silence, and who have been recovering positions, in all areas: cultural, social and also political”, he warned.
We represent, for example, “parents who want to be the true educators of their children and not be replaced by an ideology; the different professions of faith who want to express themselves freely and peacefully, and doctors who want to practice medicine according to their conscience without ideological impositions that threaten the life of the unborn or those who are about to leave”.
