The successful political experience that has halted the advance of abortion in the United States will be presented in Spain, through the voice of some of its protagonists, at the seminar “USA: Abortion is not a right” which takes place today, Monday, June 19, at the San Pablo CEU University in Madrid, from 4 to 8 pm.
The event is organized – in conjunction with the Political Network for Values – by Familia y Dignidad Humana, the European Federation One Of Us, the Spanish Federation of Pro-Life Associations, the Assembly of Associations for Life, the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, CEFAS and NEOS.
The change of course in American society since the repeal of Wade v. Roe, with almost half of the states of the Union passing laws restricting abortion to varying degrees, is the result of a cultural and political process that has been going on for over a decade. At the international seminar held in the Spanish capital, the key elements and the various stages of this process will be presented.
Among the speakers are Amy Sinclair, president of the Iowa Senate, Eddie Lucio Jr., former Texas state senator, John M. Klink, diplomatic negotiator before the United Nations and Joseph Grogan, former director of Domestic Policy during the Trump administration.
Also Wendy Wright, president and CEO of Christian Freedom International and former president of Concerned Women for America; Alejandro Bermudez, executive director of Tilma Strategies; Kelsey Wicks, executive director of ACI/EWTN Group; Carrie Severino, professor of law and president of Judicial Crisis Network; Jane Adolphe, professor of law at Ave Maria School of Law, Florida, and founder and executive director of the International Catholic Jurist Forum; Clarke Forsythe, legal expert with Americans United for Life (AUL); and William L. Saunders, professor at The Catholic University of America and director of the Human Rights Master’s Program at the Institute for Human Ecology.
The event is hybrid in two ways: some of the lectures will be face-to-face and others will be online; and participants will be able to be on-site or follow the event online.
