The V Transatlantic Summit will be held in New York

Summit-V

Save the date! The V Transatlantic Summit of the Political Network for Values (PNfV) will be held  in New York. The date: November 16 and 17, 2023.

Taking advantage of the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the theme of the meeting is Affirming Universal Human Rights – Uniting Cultures for Life, Family and Fundamental Freedoms.

According to Lola Velarde, executive director of the PNfV, “we see this event as a unique opportunity to bring together high-ranking Government officials and legislators from all around the world, willing to defend the universal human rights enshrined in the UDHR, which unfortunately are currently being undermined by non-consensual so-called new rights”.

And he details: “Particularly we will refer to the right to life (Article 3), the rights of the family (Article 16), the right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion, opinion and expression (Articles 18 & 19), and the right of parents to choose their children’s education (Art. 26), among others”.

The first Transatlantic Summit was held at the headquarters of the United Nations, New York, in 2014; it was followed by others at the European Parliament, Brussels, in 2017; and at the Capitol of Colombia, Bogota, in 2019. The last one took place in Budapest in May last year.

Velarde stresses that the objective of the summits is “to promote a meeting between legislators and governors from various countries on both sides of the Atlantic, to share experiences, exchange proposals and success stories, and promote an agenda for the common good, based on a transatlantic dialogue around shared values. These values refer to inalienable principles demanded by the respect for human dignity, such as the defense of life, the family or fundamental freedoms”.

The program of the event will be published soon.
